Georgia History Project

We are working together daily on our Georgia History notebook.  Your child will be responsible for completing three of these pages.  These pages will be counted as a test grade.  I am sending home the sheets which should be used. These may be vacation places they have or have not visited.  They will need to include pictures, information, costs, attractions and any other information that will help to describe this vacation spot.  They can include brochures, pamphlets, tickets, pictures, etc.

These three pages will be due May 17^, 2013.  They will count 10 points off for each additional day they are late. We will share these pages with our classmates on May 20, 2013.

Sorry for not posting lately, we have moved!

Sorry that the blog has not been updated lately. We have moved and I have been getting things back in order.  Our computer was not installed until last week.  Trying to move my mother's things to our house.

Thanks Sarah Beth, Mr. Mark, and Miss Amy for bringing the poultry for us to see!

4th grade enjoyed a visit from Sarah Beth's poultry friends.  We had fun holding the Rhode Island Red, Bantom, and the Silkie hens.  They enjoy eating Millworms which looked yucky to us. We learned how to hold them and feed them.  It is neat to see how each variety is so different.  God makes even the size of their eggs different. We thank God for hens because they provide so many delicious foods.

Valentine's Day

We will celebrate Valentine's Day on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 2:00.  Student's are asked to bring a valentine for each classmate.  Student's can make a valentine box at home or purchase a container or shoe box to put their valentines in.  Please have your box or container here by next Tuesday in order to allow people who bring them early to have a place to put them. We have 13 classmates, 2 boys and 11 girls.

We will have a party that will be planned by Renea Bloodworth and Kristi Greer.  If you would like to help contanct Krisit Greer.

Congratulations Allie Jones

Congratulations, Allie Jones, for being the January Student of the Month.  Thank you for your example to others.  She is a great and shining student at Fullington!

Snow Mountain Trip, February 15, 2013

Mark your calendars for our day of Fun in the snow as we visit Stone Mountain, Friday, February 15, 2013.  Please return your permission form and money by Wednesday, January 23, 2013.  More information will be sent home closer to the trip, as to what to wear, what to bring, and our itinerary.   Money for the trip is due by Wednesday, January 23, 2013.  We look forward to a day of fun as we enjoy the snow together!

4th Grade Civil War Projects

Parents:

Students have chosen a topic for their Civil War project.  Please ask you child about his/her topic.

Date project is due:  Jan18, 2013

Grade:  This project will count as two test grades, one for the written report and one for the visual presentation.

• Written report must include: student name and date, name of topic, 5 interesting facts about the topic, correct spelling and written in complete sentences, it must contain a sentence explaining why this topic was chosen.  The report must be written in pen.

• Visual may include one of the following types, poster, diorama, food, demonstration, actual examples, pictures, power point, computer site with information for the class.

• Reports will be given orally to the class on assigned days.  This will be during Januanry 22 or 23, 2013.

Reminders for Polar Express

Don't forget:

•  blanket or sleeping bag, and pillow
• wear pajamas, robe, if they would like, and slippers
•  breakfast items for the party (Your child should have already given you a list of what you are to send.)
•  bookbag and shopping bag to bring home stocking stuffers
•  check to see which of the following school supplies your child may need for the remainder of the year:

red pen, erasers, pencils, highlighter, post it notes, sharpie, notebook paper, new 5 subject composiiton book if needed.

•  Students will be dismissed tomorrow at 11:30.

I sent home a copy of items I would like for you to send for our Christmas breakfast on the 19th.  Please check your child's agenda to find the copy sent home.  Also if you would like to help us serve the students that day please let me know. We could use several moms or dads to help.

2012 4th Grade Etiquette Luncheon

We had a great time at the "Etiquette Luncheon".  Miss Amy spent many hours teaching manners and the basic of table ettiquette.  the staff of "The Colomns" was very complimentary of the students and their behavior.  The students represented Fullington with the upmost respect and distinction. They were all gracious ladies and gentlmen. 

Thanks, Miss Amy for all of your hard work in making this day so much fun and enjoyable.   The students all enjoyed the day and want to do it again.

Thanks too, to the 5th grade boys who were willing to go as escorts with our girls.  I was so proud of them, as well.

It is wonderful that our school offers this class.  This is a class that the children will use throughout their lives.
I tried to upload pictures but I am experiencing difficulty with my computer the last few weeks.  I hope to have it repaired this weekend.  If so I will attach photos later.  Miss Amy will make each of you a CD with her pictures from that day.

Class Stockings

Class Stockings

Instead of exchanging gifts, I would like to ask each of the students to bring in a stocking stuffer of their choice for each student in our class. We have 13 students. I have purchased stockings for my classroom. I reuse them each year. The stocking stuffers can be any small item.  Examples are: erasers, bubbles, pencils, red pens, sharpies, mini post it notes, suckers, play dough, activity books, etc.

Plealse send the stocking stuffers to school by Dec. 14th.  We will open our stockings on Wednesday, Dec. 19th. Please also send a bag along with your child on the last day to take the items home in.

"Tis the Season" to Work Basketball Concession Stand

Quizzes and Tests, and Homework

Parents,

I did leave off the Science Quiz 1 for today on the newsletter.  We are ready for Quiz 1 today over pages 2-14 and Quiz 2 will be Friday over pages 15-26, unless we do not get all of the material covered by then.  Please know that quizzes and test can be moved forward a day or two if we are not where I had mapped out in my plans to be.  Things often come up and we do not get to have History and Science on the same day.  We do our best to stay on track.

I know there are a lot of Quizzes and Tests and they may fall on the same day.  Our A Beka curriculum follows this format.  There may be two quizzes in one subject or a quiz followed by a test.  Students must study a little each night in Science and History.  The questions over the chapter checkup probably took the students a while to complete last night.  Sorry if it was a stressful night. It will all come together as they learn the routine.  But please know, they can not put off studying untill the last night before a quiz.  Ask your child questions over what was highlighted that day in class, this should help them review each night.  4th grade is a tough grade, students are learning to be more independent and may need a boost to reach this independence.
